With the holiday season in full swing I thought it would be a good idea to give you some simple healthy eating tips. If you follow these points you won’t have to lie about your New Years resolution to lose the extra pounds you put on from that Christmas ham.

Never overeat. A portion or serving of food is a lot smaller than most people realize.

Try not to eat and lay right down. Some activity after a meal will help the metabolizing of the foods into your body.

Drink (8) 8 oz. glasses of water daily, not because it taste good, but because it flushes out poisons, regulates your system and cleans your blood stream. Sound familiar?

Don’t rely too heavily on that post holiday diet to bail you out. Calorie counting is a waste of time in most cases because; 1 cup of vanilla ice cream is 270 calories, but so is 9 raw carrots. Now ask yourself these questions and be honest; Which is better for you? Which taste the best? Which would you prefer? What your body wants is not always what it needs.

Lastly, since we both know you’re going to ignore this article, eat that ham and deal with the consequences later, do yourself this one favor and clean out your system before starting that diet. Get rid of all the accumulative waste and poisons. The best way to do this is to have a colonic done. The next best thing is to give yourself a series of enemas until you are cleaned out. And the least effective way, but better than not doing anything, is to take a “colon cleansing formula”, preferably one that contains Psyllium (pronounce sil-ee-um) Husk Fiber. Depending on your size, you may lose quite a few pounds from the cleanse alone.

Well there you have it. Probably not what you wanted to hear in light of the 12 course turkey dinner you plan to scarf down but believe me, I was pulling my punches. I’ll share some of the more hardcore tips at a later date. Until then, don’t hurt yourself.

What you don’t eat affects your hair…huh???

Your hair is a barometer to measure your health. Doctors and scientist use strains of hair to measure the trace elements and minerals in your body. Healthy hair is possible with a good wholesome diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, because the roots of the plants pull the minerals from the ground and provide a variety of essential vitamins. Raw fruits and vegetables are the best. Eating less meat and more fresh grown products will minimize the amount of fat which clogs up the body and blood stream causing poor circulation. Poor circulation leads to hair loss or baldness.

Vitamins and minerals really do help. And I’m not just talking about what’s in your shampoo.

Vitamins and minerals are necessary today more than ever before because foods here in the U.S. are devoid of most of the nutrients they use to have. There are over 100 trace minerals that your hair needs and is not getting from the food you eat. Supplementing your diet with water soluble vitamins and minerals is vital to the health of you and your hair.

Water is public Hero #1.

You must drink (8) 8oz. glasses of water daily to flush your systems of poisons, regulate it and promote healthy and free flowing circulation. Doesn’t that sound like something your hair needs? Yes, I said water, soda, juice, Gatorade, and other drinks will not do. Seriously! I can’t stress this enough…Drink more water!!! Also you need to wash your hair more often. Especially black women, who often press or fry their hair, stripping it of all it’s moisture. This process dries out the hair causing it to break off and come out. Many people only wash their hair a few times a month. With no moisture in your hair you’re not going to get the healthy growth you want.

Well there you have it, 3 things you didn’t know about hair. Maybe you already knew this and more. If so please share with the rest of us

Armed with a degree in Holistic Nutrition, I saved our family thousands of dollars in hospital bills by following some simple, God given dietary practices. If you are concerned about healthcare, or lack there of, the information I’m sharing is just what the doctor ordered…pun intended
